Overwatch 2: Invasion, to be released on August 10th, is set to kickstart the story of Overwatch 2. Aaron Keller, the game director, previously announced that the game’s story mode, long-awaited by fans, was cancelled due to an unfeasible development process. However, story missions will still be available, allowing players to catch up with their favorite characters.
While not new to the game, Overwatch story missions will take place in the present and feature the newest characters, such as Sojourn, whose story intertwines with that of Overwatch 2.
Apart from the new hero teased in the trailer, the story missions promise to provide more lore and insight into the characters’ backgrounds. The new hero, speculated to be feminine and equipped with a massive gun, will be a support class available when Overwatch 2: Invasion launches.
